Prague – Energetická společnost ČEZ will once again extend the deadline for submitting final bids for the construction of a new nuclear unit in Dukovany. Applicants will have until October 31, instead of the previous deadline of October 2. ČEZ thereby granted the request of one of the three registered applicants. This should not jeopardize the schedule of the entire project. This was stated by ČEZ spokesman Ladislav Kříž. The new block should be completed by 2036. The French company EDF, the South Korean company KHNP and the North American Westinghouse submitted initial bids for the construction of the new block last fall.

ČEZ, which is in charge of the project, did not publish the details of the bids. In the spring, he held clarification meetings with the bidders, during which he wanted to explain to the bidders some conditions of the tender and the first offer. Subsequently, ČEZ invited them to submit final bids. Originally, the interested parties had until mid-September, at the request of one of the applicants, the contracting authority subsequently moved the deadline to October 2nd, and now, following the request of another interested party, all three have received another postponement. After final receipt of bids, ČEZ evaluates them and submits the evaluation report to the government for final approval.
