During the digital CES turn, Asus announced a new laptop that can take a beating. The BR1100 is a so-called ‘ruggedized’ laptop and should be more resistant to daily grind. The outer side of the laptop is partly made of rubber, and on the left side there is also an optional integrated stylus with a pressure sensitivity of 4096 different measurements. Spilling a glass on the keyboard is no problem, which also has an antibacterial BacGuard frame. According to Asus, the laptop must also survive falls of up to 1.2 meters.
As the name suggests, the BR1100 is an 11.6-inch laptop, and it is mainly intended for the school desks. Inside we find either an Intel Celeron N4500 or Pentium Silver with integrated graphics, up to 16GB of internal memory. As far as storage is concerned, there are variants up to 128 GB eMMC and a 1TB NVME SSD. A usb-c 3.2 gen 2 port is available. Furthermore, the screen with as yet unknown screen resolution should release less blue light, and the microphone can pick up and filter out background noise. For privacy purposes, a mechanical slider is also provided for the webcam.
The rugged laptop has yet to be released in the United States and Canada in the first quarter of this year. It is unclear if and when the Asus BR1100 will be available from us and for what price.
