Case against the name of the elected chairman, arrest 2

Rajoir police have filed a case in connection with the attack on former BCL general secretary Golam Rabbani in the Madaripur union council election, removing the name of newly elected chairman Mosharraf Mollah. Later, police arrested two persons including Sohail Mollah, son of the main accused chairman in the case.

They were arrested on Tuesday morning from Gangkandi Shakharpar in Ishibpur union of Rajoir upazila in Madaripur.

The matter has been confirmed by the investigating officer of the case, Sub-Inspector of Police Nazmul Hossain.

Rajoir police sub-inspector (SI) Nazmul Hossain said, “Since the case was filed on Monday night, attempts have been made to arrest the accused since then. Mentioning the names of 11 people in the case, another 30 to 40 unidentified people were made accused. Sohail Mollah, the son of the newly elected chairman of Ishibpur Union and the main accused in the case, and Zahirul Matubbar, the son of Salam Hawladar of the same area, were arrested on Tuesday morning. Efforts are being made to arrest the rest of the accused.

However, MA Rashid Azad, the plaintiff in the case and father of Golam Rabbani, alleged that the name of the main perpetrator of the attack, Mosharraf Mollah, has been omitted. I lodged a complaint with Rajoir police station on the day of the incident. A day later, Musharraf dropped the case, removing Mollah’s name. The matter seems mysterious. Later, the police took the chairman’s son as the main accused. I strongly demand the arrest of the accused.

In this regard, the officer in charge of Rajoir police (OC) Sheikh Mohammad. Sadiq said, “Due to the post-election arrangements, the case could not be given time on the day of the incident. The next day, on the night of December 26, the case was taken up and a police sub-inspector was directed to arrest and investigate the accused. Those who are the real culprits have been accused, it would not be right to harass innocent people. That is how the case was filed. ‘

However, the elected chairman Mosharraf Mollah was not found at home. He called his used mobile but did not receive it. He could not be reached for comment.

It is to be mentioned that the people of the opposition Mosharraf Mollah are trying to cut the votes at the Gangkandi Government Primary School Center during the voting in Ishibpur Union of Rajoir Upazila around 3 pm on Sunday, December 26.

On hearing this news, Golam Rabbani went there along with Mosharraf Mollah and his son Sohail Mollah attacked him. At one point, Golam stabbed Rabbani. At that time, when Rabbani was returning, two fingers of his right hand were cut off. Two more Rabbani workers were injured. Rabbani’s uncle Salah Uddin lost the election by contesting for the post of chairman of Ishibpur Union as an independent.
