Casa Maiora, the country house that makes you dream of holidays in Puglia

Not to the trulli of the Valle d’Itria or the farms of Salento: for the first time, Studio Andrew Trotter takes inspiration from villas on the Apulian coast, with their wide colonnades and earthy-toned whitewashed walls as in past centuries. A successful experiment from which it was born Casa Maiorsurrounded by centuries-old olive groves that stretch down to the sea, in a stretch of radiant countryside halfway between Ostuni e San Vito dei Normanni.

Located on the southernmost border and in elevated position with respect to the terracesto get the best view of the Adriatic, the holiday home has aeast-west exposure which makes it ideal both for summer stays and for relaxing getaways in the cold season. Natural light illuminates the living areas and the four bedrooms even in winter, filtering through the large glass windows that frame the rural landscapes of the area.

Solid and linear architecture of brutalist inspiration for the exteriors, with stone facades, columns and verandas plastered with a powdered pink lime wash totally natural. Warm and rusty tones which continue inside, from the walls to the floors, made in local tuffa limestone with suggestive shades of sage and mustard. While the furnishings are a mix of custom built wall cabinets; pieces of Forward, DCW editions, Lumina e Bongio; Nicola Fasano ceramicse vintage chairs, tables and lamps from local markets and shops such as Le Icone and La Mercanteria.

Among the environments of the living area is the large one kitchen with island tailor made from the terrace floor and storage niches carved into the stone. While in the bathrooms they have been laid out custom made washbasins by local craftsmen and was employed cocciopesto for covering wet areas.

The three double bedrooms have private courtyard and outdoor showerone step away from pool embraced by centuries-old olive trees and by gardens cared for by Studio Peace e Lamia Santolina.

In addition to these, among the outdoor spaces there is also one kitchen with wood-burning oven and barbecueit’s a porch covered with thick reedswhich offers shade during the hottest hours and is the perfect place for family lunches and relaxing breaks during the day.
