Canon Europe introduces PRISMAcolor Manager, a cloud-based color management software that enables commercial and in-house print service providers to measure and verify color on all CMYK digital production printers. Using a simple process that performs rigorous quality and consistency checks, PRISMAcolor Manager verifies color accuracy against recognized industry standards such as FOGRA and IDEAlliance, or user-defined targets and tolerances.
This allows operators to compare and accurately replicate printed colors.
PRISMAcolor Manager offers commercial and in-house print service providers an easy way to confirm and visualize the color quality of digital prints against a chosen target by clearly structuring the digital color measurement process, simplifying how to display and analyze, and collecting color measurement results from different printers. It then verifies and evaluates the results of the analysis according to defined standards.
With an intuitive interface, the software can be used by any operator, saving time and resources. PRISMAcolor Manager shows operators with simple step-by-step animations how to perform color measurements, from initialization to report generation. It also reduces wasteful printing errors and helps to minimize them by either automatically sending measurement charts with the correct settings to a device controlled by a PRISMAsync or Fiery driver, or by displaying the correct color quality settings on the screen to guide the operator. The illustrations provide real-time feedback during the measurement and check marks after each step is correctly performed.
Using PRISMAcolor Manager, operators can verify color quality in four ways:
- A test chart with the correct settings is printed from the PRISMAsync1 print server and measured using the digital print’s internal color sensors. The verifications are then uploaded to the PRISMAcolor Manager. This whole process is automatic.
- PRISMAcolor Manager automatically prints a test chart with ID coding2 and correct color settings on a CYMK engine controlled by a PRISMAsync or Fiery controller and is easily measured using a compatible X-Rite i1 Pro or iSis measurement device that links the validation results to the test via the ID test.
- A test sheet with an ID code is downloaded from PRISMAcolor Manager and manually printed on any SNMP-enabled CMYK printer using the color quality settings displayed in PRISMAcolor Manager. The chart is then easily measured using PRISMAcolor Manager using a compatible X-Rite i1 Pro or iSis measuring device and the validation results are linked to the test via the test ID.
- A standard color verification test chart is measured using PRISMAcolor Manager for verification using a compatible X-Rite i1 Pro or iSis measuring device.
Verifying and optimizing color consistency is essential for print service providers and is one of the most critical aspects of professional printing. Monitoring color quality and ensuring it is in line with industry standards can be very time consuming and complex and often requires a color expert. For commercial and in-house print service providers with more than one type of printer or printer supplier, the process of measuring and analyzing color and quality consistency across devices can be even more challenging. PRISMAcolor Manager provides commercial and in-house print service providers with a simple tool to support these processes regardless of printer. And its easy-to-use user interface allows operators at all levels to perform authentication.
PRISMAcolor Manager will be available from May 2023 via PRISMA Home for all PRISMA Cloud tools and applications.
