Cancer medicine – uncompensated, for diabetes, missing

For almost a year since the crisis caused by the Coronavirus pandemic broke out, all the attention of the rulers has turned to the so-called “management” of the crisis caused by the virus, a management that, among us, was a huge failure, both because Financial “cannons”, which are being talked about more and more, as well as due to repeated fires in hospitals.

Those in government no longer care, but take into account the fact that in Romania there are hundreds of thousands of people who face diseases at least as serious as this virus. As dangerous as Covid is, the government’s ignorance of people with cancer, diabetes or cardiovascular disease is indescribable.

In Romania there are 1750 new cases of people diagnosed with ruthless cancer. Vesanoidul is an oncological drug, which is administered to cancer patients (leukemia). A box of this medicine, which lasts only 10 days, costs no less than 1244 lei! A patient diagnosed with leukemia must take this treatment for at least two years, so this drug is vital for cancer patients.

We read on the package leaflet: “Vesanoid should be used to induce remission in acute promyelocytic leukemia. Untreated patients and those who have relapsed or been refractory to standard chemotherapy can be treated with all-trans retinoic acid. After complete remission, consolidation of chemotherapy with a full dose of Vesanoid should be performed. Addition of chemotherapy to all-trans retinoic acid increases the chance of survival and decreases the risk of recurrence compared to chemotherapy alone”.

In these circumstances, the disputed Minister of Health, Vlad Voiculescu, decided that this drug, Vesanoid, should be removed from the list of reimbursed drugs! A really criminal decision, which Voiculescu took at the beginning of this year

Ion Cristoiu, published yesterday, on his blog “”The dramatic announcement of the mother of a 25-year-old man who is facing this cruel disease. We also present the full message through which the young man’s mother hopes that she can be heard by the Minister of Health Vlad Voiculescu in order to reintroduce Vesanoid on the list of compensated oncological medicines:

Other nonsense of the illustrious minister that some believe in. Vesanoid, specific for acute promyelocytic leukemia, has been removed from the list of compensated drugs since January of this year.. Depending on the severity of the case, it reaches 9 pcs / day. Usually a bottle arrives in 10 days. This drug is taken throughout the treatment, which can last between one and three years. A bottle costs 1245 lei. Let those who believe in this minister (to put this type of frame in their profile picture – as if they are looking for providence and self) tell me now what can we do? Shall I say that a thousand people are diagnosed with this cruel disease every year? Please speak, write, shout! Who knows how to write further so we can make this drug be compensated. I don’t want to think about the fact that most Romanians can’t afford this medicine for free. Vlad Voiculescu, can Vlad Voiculescu be heard?”.

And the situation of Vesanoid is not unique. “SIOFOR”Is a vital medicine for those suffering from diabetes, but it has been completely missing from celebrities since last year, since the beginning of the pandemic! And, as it is known, even the authorities have repeatedly announced that the greatest vulnerability to Coronavirus is in patients suffering from diabetes! There is not the slightest concern from the Minister of Health towards cancer or diabetes patients, since he completely ignores their problems, on which their very lives depend.

Let’s also read from the “Sioforului” leaflet: “Siofor is a medicine to reduce too much blood glucose in adult patients with adult-onset type II diabetes; especially in overweight patients in whom blood glucose levels could not be regulated by diet and exercise alone.”.

Instead, we find out these days that the budget for this year has been set, and the Prime Minister, Florin Cîțu, rightly thought that he will save the health system if he allocates Ministry of Health, the amount of only 17.4 billion lei, with 11.2% below the execution for 2020. Of this amount, 2.3 billion is to be spent on staff costs, 4.8 billion on goods and services, and 9.5 billion on transfers between government units.

The Cîțu Government ”thus demonstrates that for the PNL-USRPLUS-UDMR alliance, the Security and Protection Service is much more important than the Health, since allocated for this year in the SPP account more by 49.4%, although this year there are no elections. Last year, the “Orban Government” motivated the increase of the amount allocated for the SPP precisely through the two electoral elections: local and parliamentary.
