Latvian businesses and people are encouraged to participate in the “Laptops for Ukraine” initiative and donate smart devices to Ukrainian doctors, government agencies, teachers and schoolchildren.
The goal of the initiative is to collect laptops, smartphones and tablets in order to deliver them to schools, hospitals and government agencies in those regions of Ukraine that were most affected by the war.
Representatives of the Tavi draugi society, who collect devices, say that everyone can donate a new or used, but serviceable laptop, smartphone or tablet to the people of Ukraine. The society addresses businesses with a special appeal: “By replacing your employees’ smart devices with newer ones, you can give them a second wind. Your donation will allow Ukrainian hospitals to work, children to continue their studies, and government agencies to provide essential services to the population.”
There are smart device collection centers in many EU countries. In Latvia, this is done by the Tavi draugi society in cooperation with the EU agency in Latvia BEREC atbalsta aģentūra.
Devices can be delivered to the warehouse of the company in Riga, on the street. Ventspils, from Monday to Saturday from 10:00 to 18:00.
It is important that the devices are in good working order: the battery, touch screen and keyboard should work well. Before handing over the devices, they are asked to delete all personal information from them.
