Cafe Bayezid fined Rs 50,000

A mobile court of Chittagong City Corporation (CHC) has imposed a fine of Tk 50,000 on Bayezid’s Cafe Bayezid for conducting business in unhealthy and dirty environment.

Chasik Executive Magistrate Marufa Begum Nellie led the operation on Monday (April 18). He campaigned against the use of banned polythene bags in Atura Depot Market with the aim of building an eco-friendly city. He also instructed shopkeepers and buyers to dispose of polythene bags.

In another operation led by Special Magistrate Manisha Mahajan, nine shop owners were fined Tk 8,900 for obstructing the movement of people by conducting business on Sheikh Mujib Road and Pathantuli area.

Besides, in the case of Chasik Sanitary Inspector, three shop owners were fined Tk 18,000.
