– We can only do that if we work in three shifts, and we will be able to do that, because we work with the best Chinese partners – said Momirović, during the tour of the works on the Laz tunnel.

He visited the works on yesterday (February 10, 2021) the most demanding part of the section, thirty kilometers long, on which two tunnel pipes 2,800 meters long will be built.

Momirović announced that the traffic should be released from Čačak towards Požega to Sveti Nikola.

– We have excellent cooperation with Chinese partners and Roads of Serbiae. 60 people work on one pipe, and the work is done in four places. When everything is finished, we will have the two longest tunnels in Serbia. When this section is opened to traffic, it gives us a basis to continue with the construction of other roads to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. In these difficult circumstances, we as a country are moving forward – said the Minister.

So far, a total of 507 meters of the right and 513 meters of the left pipe have been dug on the Laz tunnel, while 150 meters of the right and 145 meters of the left pipe have been dug on the exit side. Mining problems around the slopes were singled out during the excavation of the pipe, and an even more demanding endeavor is the excavation of the Munjino brdo tunnel.

The contractor on this section of the highway from Preljina to Požega is a Chinese company CCCC, and the total value of the investment is 523 million US dollars.
