The Association of Social Responsibility has long strived to make sustainability a natural part of business and the functioning of every organization in the Czech Republic. “With this project, we are trying to change the shopping behavior of customers towards sustainability, starting with individuals, ending with large companies and government. We believe that they will prefer Shopping for the Good of their own and the planets, and thus support local businesses and non-profit organizations. The e-shop Shopping for Dobro is a place where they always find the necessary inspiration, ”adds Lucie Mádlová, director of the Association of Social Responsibility, which is behind the whole idea of an e-shop with sustainable gifts. The fact that there is a growing interest in sustainable gifts in society is also evidenced by current research by the Ipsos agency, according to which 4 out of 10 Czechs take sustainability into account when choosing a gift.
The e-shop Nakup na Dobro brings a wide range of meaningful sustainable gifts and promotional items that will please not only the recipients, but also society and nature. In addition to design upcycle products or bio and fairtrade products, it also offers charitable items and services, the purchase of which will be supported by non-profit organizations such as Adra or Médecins Sans Frontières. For corporate customers, the e-shop provides the possibility of advertising branding of selected products and replacement performance for the entire purchase, including transport.
Purchasing at Dobro also makes sense for a dozen employees with disabilities who participate in its operation and logistics in Havlíčkův Brod, as the fulfillment of the e-shop is provided for the Association by the social enterprise Ergotep. “The idea of the Ergotep Association and the philosophy of this project have been perfectly combined into a unique whole. The sale of responsible and sustainable products creates quality work for handicapped people and opportunities for their development, ”says Jiří Černý, CEO of Ergotep. In addition, the purchase of any product from the Purchase for Good offer will support other people with disabilities, such as women with epilepsy, employees with mental illness or hearing impairment. Most of the products from the e-shop offer come from the production of sheltered workshops or social enterprises.
Sustainability comes first
In addition, shopping at Dobro has the ambition to become a completely sustainable e-shop. It recycles packaging, giving packaging a second chance to used and returnable boxes or flour bags. It uses cardboard cuts of its own production or corrugated cardboard to fill the bales. Ecological packaging thus protects not only the shipment, but also the planet. In addition, the goods are stored in a building that is supplied with electricity from the PV plant and heated by a heat pump.
The 100% carbon-neutral ecological transport offered by the e-shop Nakup na Dobro is completely unique thanks to an exclusive partnership with the DPD carrier, which delivers good packages to customers ecologically to their home, and completely free of charge, whatever the value of the purchase. “As part of our long-term green strategy, we 100% offset the carbon footprint of each package transported. In addition, we deliver to places where it is possible with electrodes, e-bikes or walking couriers, ”explains Miloš Malaník, CEO of Czech DPD and Regional Manager of DPD CEE. Customers can donate the money saved for transport to the restoration of Czech forests after the bark beetle calamity in the vicinity of the e-shop warehouse in the Vysočina region by purchasing tree seedlings, which will be planted by the Social Responsibility Association in cooperation with PEFC.
Sustainable gifts for companies
The e-shop Nakup na Dobro is preparing after the holidays for large orders from companies interested in social responsibility, which want to give their employees and corporate partners sustainable gifts with an impact. Such companies include, for example, CEZ Group. “We have long supported sheltered workshops and social enterprises. Therefore, we are pleased that we were able to actively contribute to the creation of a new e-shop and involve many more skilled craftsmen who face health or social limitations, ”describes Kateřina Bohuslavová, CEZ Group’s ESG Director, who supported the creation of the e-shop in the spring. as part of a crowdfunding campaign at Hithit together with the Montessori Institute Prague and the law firm PEYTON Legal, which also provides all legal services to the e-shop pro bono.
