Bus fare in Dhaka South is increasing by 50 paisa per kilometer

In the Dhaka South City Corporation area, the fare of public transport is being fixed at Tk 2.20 per km. Earlier, the rent was 60 paise for one taka. As a result, the fare is increasing by 50 paisa per kilometer.

Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has sent a letter to the Ministry of Road Transport and Communications to implement the decision. This was stated by Mayor Sheikh Fazle Nur Taposh at the 17th coordination meeting of Dhaka South City Corporation on Tuesday.

Regarding the fare increase, the mayor said that the fare has been increased considering the service aspect of the passengers. If the fare is effective, passengers will get improved public transport and services. The decision has been taken in consultation with the bus owners.

Tapas said 155 buses would run south of Dhaka (from Ghatarchar to Kanchpur) under the two transport companies. Space has already been earmarked for the passenger camp. Tenders for the construction of the camp will be called within the next one month.

Besides, a place has been earmarked for a temporary bus stand terminal at Kanchpur.
