Pergine Valsugana (Italy) – In today’s 17th stage of the Giro d’Italia, the British cyclist Geraint Thomas will once again appear in the pink jersey of the leading rider. The 2018 Tour de France winner returned to the front after finishing second in Tuesday’s mountain stage, just behind Portugal’s Joao Almeida.
Thomas donned the pink jersey for the first time after the tenth stage, but on Saturday he had to give it up to the surprising leader Bruno Armirail from France. He now leads by 18 seconds over Almeida. Slovenian favorite Primož Roglič is third with a distance of 29 seconds. The 95th position belongs to the Czech cyclist Karl Vack.
Today, the peloton awaits the descent to the Adriatic Sea with the destination in the resort of Caorle, where after 195 kilometers the sprinters should fight for victory.
