After several impressive modifications of the Mercedes G-Class, Brabus presented the most impressive so far under the name Brabus 900 Crawler. It is a G-Class that has been redesigned into a fierce bug that can only be driven in nature, as it cannot be registered for regular roads.

Brabus describes his new creation as “the ultimate race for desert dunes”. The vehicle has no windows or doors, but there is a huge clearance of 53cm, which allows you to drive on almost any type of terrain. For comparison, the reputable SUVs Ford Bronco and Jeep Wrangler have a ground clearance of “only” 29.4 cm and 27.4 cm, respectively.

Brabus installed portal axles to achieve maximum vehicle capabilities on heavy surfaces. The revised suspension comes with unique adjustable springs that have a stroke of up to 16cm. The wheels are forged from one piece in the dimension of 20 inches, the front brake discs are 40 cm, and the rear 37 cm.

The volume of the engine has been increased to 4.5 liters, and with the help of two turbines, the unit produces 900 hp and 1250 NM of maximum torque. However, torque is electronically limited to 1050Nm to protect the nine-speed automatic transmission. Although not made for speed recorders, the Crawler catches 100km / h from standstill in just 3.4 seconds, and its top speed is limited to 160km / h due to off-road tires.

Thanks to the removal of some body parts and the use of carbon, the weight of the factory vehicle has been reduced from 2485kg to 2065kg in the European specification.
