Bochum fires coach after poor start to season

Bochum, bottom of the German League, announced this Monday the termination of the contract with coach Thomas Reis after six defeats in the first six rounds of the championship.

“This decision was not easy to take. It is clear to everyone. Reis created a connection between the club and the city that has lasted for the last three years”, lamented the leader of the German emblem, Patrick Fabian.

Meanwhile, Bochum’s under-19 team coach, Heiko Butscher, has been appointed interim coach of the first team.

The club had risen to the German top tier in the 2020/21 season and remained in the Bundesliga thanks to the 13th place achieved in the last edition of the competition.

Now, on matchday six, Bochum is the only team that has not yet scored in the championship and has conceded 18 goals, scoring just four.
