BNP is not taking A.League’s threat into consideration

Tomorrow Saturday (May 27) BNP will hold a rally in Jessore. Jessore District Awami League has been threatening resistance for several days around this rally. But BNP is not taking the threat into consideration. The leaders of BNP said that they will make the rally successful by ignoring threats and obstacles.

The general secretary of the party Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was supposed to be present in this rally. Due to his illness, Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi will be present as the chief guest, sources said. Anindya Islam Amit, Acting Organizing Secretary of the party’s Khulna division, said these things in a press conference at Press Club Jessore.

On the other hand, on the same day, the Awami League-backed labor organization Sammilita Peshajiji Sramik Sangham Oikya Parishad and BNP announced that they would hold a rally together. The two parties will try to demonstrate their strength in the processions of both parties. There is a risk of bloody conflict. However, the police and BNP leaders are not upset about this. However, common people are scared and apprehensive about the rally of the two parties.

According to BNP sources, Jessore District BNP will hold this demonstration as part of the central program of BNP to demand 10-point resignation of the government along with arrests and torture in the disappearance case. District BNP has already completed preparatory meetings in all upazilas and unions to make the rally a success. Jessore Awami League announced to resist BNP’s rally at the moment when all the preparations are going on for BNP’s public meeting.

BNP said that the administration has received official permission for public gathering on Volatank Road in the city on Thursday. BNP’s senior joint secretary-general Ad. Ruhul Kabir Rizvi. The gathering will be presided over by Professor Nargis Begum, consort of district BNP convener late Tariqul Islam.

Meanwhile, after receiving permission from the administration, the top leaders of the district BNP visited the rally venue along with Khulna Divisional Acting Organizing Secretary Anindya Islam Amit.

Anindya Islam Amit said in a press conference at the Press Club that since the date of BNP’s rally in Jessore was finalized on May 27, the police started mass arrests of activists. We have made all preparations during this mass arrest. But unfortunately first we asked for permission in city central Eidgaon and Town Hall Maidan. But not allowed to have Eid pandal in Eidgah. And when we asked for permission for our rally in the town hall ground, the government gave permission to the party workers’ organization instead of giving us permission. However, they have been given verbal permission to hold a rally at Bhola Tank Road in the city. This rally will be successful by ignoring the threat of attack by government party leaders and workers. Our demand is the demand of the general public. We will not back down from our moral position to make that demand. Awami League leaders and activists are giving various threats and provocative statements around the meeting in Jessore. BNP activists are not disturbed by their threat.

Top leaders of Awami League say that they will guard every ward. In response to the question whether he is afraid of any conflict in that case, this leader of BNP said that the constitution of Bangladesh has given me the right to hold meetings. He is in state power with an oath to protect that constitution; Or all the government officials who are working in Jessore to keep the constitution coherent will surely consider it. The responsibility is theirs. I am not saying anything beyond my democratic rights. Awami League has taken steps to create conflict everywhere. They tried with the administration, they tried by stopping the cars and horses but they left no way. No new path has been opened. We will avoid conflict and rally.

District Police Spokesperson Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Belal Hossain said that the BNP has informed the police that it will hold a rally at Bhola Tank Road. Police will be active around the rally. So that there is no violence.

He also said that even if there are two rallies on the same day, there is no danger of deterioration of the law and order situation. Because, the police has called both sides to hold a peaceful assembly. Moreover, the police will be on extra alert.
