Marija Popović, President of the Executive Board of Mobi Bank
- Is speed or reliability more important in your career (but also in your private life)?
Life is a marathon, not a sprint – that’s why I believe that reliability is more important. There is no speed without reliability. If you constantly get off the track and fix faults, it will, in the end, slow you down the most.
- In your opinion, what are the characteristics of an ideal co-driver?
The ideal co-driver is someone you trust completely and with whom you get along. It is someone who strengthens you with his qualities where you are weak and sees what you do not see.
- Do you always manage to assess the path ahead?
Without false modesty, I must admit that I often succeed, but it is never perfect. It is very important to have courage, but also, always leave room for reaction if the curve is not exactly what you thought it was.
- How much should be invested in the machine (product, service, etc.), and how much in the “pit-stop” (people)?
Equally. The car and the driver are what attract all the attention, but racing is also a team sport, as well as banking. You can have the fastest car and a talented driver, but if you lose 10 seconds more in the “pit stop” compared to the competition, they will overtake you and you will not win.
- What do a good driver and a good manager have in common?
A good driver, as well as a good manager, always sees the bigger picture and follows the movements of other traffic participants. He’s not just looking at his car, but the road ahead. This is also true in the world of business, where you need to not only look at your team or your organization, but also the entire market and, last but not least, the well-being of the society in which you operate.
