Blinken described Slovakia as a key ally in NATO and partner – Domáce – Správy

On Thursday in Oslo, Norway, the US Minister of Foreign Affairs Antony Blinken described Slovakia as a key ally in NATO and a partner in the promotion of democracy, security and support for Ukraine.

Blinken wrote on Twitter that he also met with the head of Slovak diplomacy, Miroslav Wlachovský, at an informal meeting of the North Atlantic Council at the level of foreign ministers in Oslo.

At this informal meeting of foreign ministers of NATO member countries, he said that there are no better security guarantees for Slovakia or Ukraine than membership in the North Atlantic Alliance.

Blinken announced on Twitter that he also held meetings with departmental partners from other countries in Oslo. He thanked Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs Anniken Huitfeld for organizing the meeting.

He spoke with the German foreign minister Annalena Baerbock, with Catherine Colonnova, who is the French foreign minister, and with the British head of diplomacy James Cleverly about the coordination of support for Ukraine, which is resisting Russian aggression. Blinken also expressed US concern over Iran’s nuclear escalation.

The main topics of the two-day negotiations in Oslo, which ended on Thursday, were the preparation of Alliance decisions for the July summit in Vilnius, Lithuania, as well as the development of political relations between NATO and Ukraine, with an emphasis on further assistance to this country. The ministers also discussed the need to strengthen NATO’s eastern wing, including Slovakia.
