jpnn.com, SURABAYA – Political observer from Trunojoyo University, Madura, Surokim Abdussalam, advised the PDI-P to respond wisely to the destruction of a number of billboards with the picture of PDIP DPP chairman Puan Maharani in Surabaya.

According to him, the wise attitude opens up opportunities for more and more people who will sympathize with the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

“This act of vandalism should be responded to calmly. Because with this incident, people are more sympathetic to Mbak Puan,” said Surokim when contacted from Surabaya, Tuesday (27/7).

The senior researcher from the Surabaya Survey Center (SSC) also said it was important for Puan’s sympathizers to respond to the destruction of billboards by not being emotionally reactive.

“Think of it as a test. The more often you are disturbed, the more sympathy you will get. Indonesian voters are ‘mellow’, or the more they are persecuted, the more sympathy they get,” he said.

Vandalism against Puan Maharani’s billboards occurred in a number of areas in East Java, such as in Blitar and Surabaya.

Not only were they damaged, some large billboards that asked people to comply with health protocols were also crossed out, and even words that were deemed inappropriate.

Meanwhile, Director of Indo Publica Asip Irama suspected that the vandalism was deliberately carried out to bring down the dignity of Puan Maharani.
