Biden prolongs US sanctions against Belarus for a year

US President Joe Biden extended the 2006 sanctions against Belarus by one year. This is stated in the message of the White House.

Note that the restrictions imposed in connection with allegations of human rights violations, political repression and corruption expired on June 16.

At the same time, from June 3, Washington again imposed sanctions against nine state-owned enterprises in Belarus. This happened after an incident with an emergency landing of a Ryanair plane in Minsk, after which Roman Protasevich, co-founder of the NEXTA Telegram channel recognized as extremist in the republic, was detained.
