Beximco received the award for best customer and highest exporter

In the outgoing 2020, Bangladesh Export Import Company Limited (Beximco) was nominated as the highest exporter of the state-owned Janata Bank Limited and was awarded the Crest and Best Customer award.

The award was handed over to Beximco at a function held at the bank’s head office on Thursday afternoon.

Janata Bank Managing Director (MD) and CEO. Abdus Salam Azad handed over the crest and certificate to Beximco Group Director and CEO Syed Naved Hossain.

Although other companies did not repay the loan due to Corona, Beximco paid all the installments and it was decided to honor the top company at the 747th board meeting of Janata Bank.

According to Janata Bank, 6 percent of local office exports have been completed through Beximco. Although other companies did not repay the loan due to corona, Beximco Limited did not leave any installment. Last year (2020), the country’s top group paid Tk 427 crore in loan installments.

Beximco Group Finance Director Osman Kaiser Chowdhury, Chief Operations Officer Anil Kumar Maheshwari, Executive Director Mostafa Zamanul Bahar, Executive Director MS Khan Shakil, Head of Banking Md. Masum Mia and Janata Bank DMD. Ismail Hossain, Md. Jikrul Haque, Md. Jasim Uddin, Abdul Jabbar, Md. Amirul Hasan and senior executives of both the organizations were present.

Abdus Salam Azad, MD of Janata Bank, said, “Beximco Group started its business journey with Janata Bank in 1997. Now the group is the top exporter of this bank. We are proud to be their partner. The group’s 28 companies employ 85,000 people. We were able to honor them, we got it. ‘

On behalf of Beximco, Syed Naveed Hossain, Chief Executive Officer of the group, said, “Although our other businesses in Corona have declined, PPE production, marketing and exports have increased manifold. The group’s other businesses have halved. However, we are moving forward with new plans through medical supplies. It will be difficult to survive in 2021. Beximco is working on this difficult time as a challenge.

Thirteen companies belonging to Beximco Group are conducting business through Janata Bank. In the outgoing 2020, the total exports of Beximco Group through Janata Bank was around Tk 4,614 crore. Of this, Beximco Limited’s exports amounted to about Tk 2,326 crore. Last year, Janata Bank earned about Tk 474 crore from Beximco Group. Of this, the income from restructured and rescheduled loans has been Tk 427 crore.
