Bertelsmann opts for Verizon to roll out Network-as-a-Service and Software Defined-WAN globally

With headquarters in Germany, Bertelsmann is one of the world’s largest media, service and education companies, operating for approx. 50 countries around the world.

Subsidiaries include the entertainment group RTL Group, Penguin Random House, BMG, the service provider Arvato, Bertelsmann Printing Group, Bertelsmann Education Group and Bertelsmann Investments.

The company has approx. 130,000 employees and a turnover of 17.3 billion euros.

As a partner for Bertelsmann’s global network transformation, Verizon will implement a Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) solution focusing on a globally managed Software Defined-WAN (SD-WAN) network supported by virtualized security features. The implementation affects Bertelsmann’s activities in North and South America as well as subsidiaries across the APAC and EMEA regions.

Reliability, security, stability and innovation were the priorities for Bertelsmann in the re-election of Verizon as a network partner:

“Transforming global activities to become more agile and able to compete in a fast-paced digital environment is crucial to maintaining a competitive edge. The NaaS structure with next-generation networking and security combines reliability with the strength of a competitive flexibility for global companies. Given how fundamentally important these networks are, it is crucial that companies find a partner who has proven experience and understands the importance of security in this core area, ”said Scott Lawrence, Group Vice President of Verizon Business i EMEA.

The next generation of SD-WAN networks has security built into its core. Verizon Advanced SASE delivers a universally distributed, identity-centric networking and security platform that ensures Bertelsmann’s end users and devices are securely connected across all locations.

“A stable and secure global network is crucial for our business to be successful and take advantage of the new business opportunities offered by the agile digital world. Our business is hugely dependent on the quality of our network. It was crucial that we found a technology partner we trusted, who had documented global experience, a track record in our company, and who shared our vision of how the network supports the development within our company. Verizon Business has been our trusted network partner for the past five years, and we are convinced that they are also the right partner for our future, ”says Jochen Grochtdreis, Senior Vice President Corporate IT at Bertelsmann.
