Mercedes-Benz has built 50,000,000 cars in the last 75 years. The success is based on an entire production network, which includes plants around the globe. The Germans use innovative technologies and are moving in the direction of sustainability.

The network is constantly evolving and adapting to market requirements. It is currently focusing on implementing the technology needed to launch the electro-mobility offensive. By 2022, the Mercedes-EQ zero-emission range will include no less than six models. Four more will join those already on the market, EQC, launched in 2018, and the new EQA, presented in January this year. Mercedes intends to produce its own batteries in the near future. Another goal is to achieve carbon neutrality from 2022 at all of the company’s production centers.

The plant where the Mercedes-Benz car with the number 50,000,000 was built is the most modern production center

Inaugurated in September last year, Factory 56 is the car manufacturer’s most modern factory. It is based on an investment of 730 million euros. In total, Mercedes has invested 2.1 billion euros in the Sindelfingen plant. The money was directed to the construction of an innovative center starting with 2014.

Digitization, connectivity and automation are the principles put into practice at Factory 56. More than 1,500 people work there in two shifts. The entire center of Sindelfingen has a total of about 35,000 employees.
