“We hope that in 2022 the EMP Group, especially Bentu WK can increase its lifting, and of course if there are challenges and obstacles the Government and SKK Migas will always be ready to help,” said Dwi during a working visit to EMP Bentu Limited in Kampar Regency, Riau Province, Monday. He hopes that the lifting contribution from the Bentu Block in the future will also continue to increase. In 2023, for example, production is expected to be at the level of 130 mmscfd and increase to 144 mmscfd in 2025.

EMP Bentu Limited is the owner of 100 percent participating interest in the Bentu Block and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of PT Energi Mega Persada Tbk (ENRG).

The Bentu Block gas production is currently being absorbed by PT Pembangkit Listik Negara (Persero) (PLN) and Refinery Unit (RU) II Dumai which is owned by PT Pertamina (Persero). As well as one of the largest pulp and paper producers in Indonesia, which is located in Riau Province.

In addition, gas from the Bentu Block is also used for the city gas network in Pekanbaru City for about 10,000 households and the city gas network in Dumai City for about 5,300 households. Currently, PLN absorbs about 30 standard cubic feet per day, equivalent to the need for about 30 percent of electricity in Riau Province.

Currently, the production of Bentu WK is the backbone of gas production for electricity and industry in Riau Province and its surroundings.
