This higher education institution set aside 6.5 million dinars for the legalization procedure, which was a precondition for bringing the concrete mockery to its intended purpose.
With a reconstructed Victorian greenhouse from the 19th century, Serbia will get a unique whole and a very representative space of 2,000 square meters. intended for environmental education before all preschool and school children and students, but also all citizens.
Tomanović emphasizes that it is a debt to the famous Josip Pančić, the first president of the Serbian Royal Academy, who glorified Serbia in the middle of the 19th century by describing a large number of unique plant species that, except here, do not live anywhere in Europe or the world.
– Visitors will have the opportunity to see the legacy with the herbarium, spruce, Pančić’s ramondas, his precious notes, rare and valuable books that have been kept and preserved in the Botanical Garden administration building until now, in inappropriate conditions – Professor Tomanović points out.
– Also, there will be laboratories and classrooms for talented children, as well as an amphitheater with 190 seats, a zoo collection, a seed bank of our indigenous plant species, which represent an invaluable genetic resource. The amphitheater is intended for visitors for popular lectures, and it is possible to hold concerts.
