Be careful where you park! The new rules for parking in Bucharest came into force today

Be very careful where you park in Bucharest starting today, August 15, because parking will have to be paid for in advance. Drivers who will use the parking lots managed by the Capital City Hall and will not pay the related rates risk fines of 200 lei per day and the blocking of their cars.

It is about a regulation approved by the General Council of the Capital in 2019. It concerns the parking spaces marked in blue on the public domain. The rate is paid only during the day.

How much does parking cost in Bucharest starting August 15

Starting on August 15, the new tariffs applied by the Municipal Parking Company entered into force, according to HCGMB no. 517/2019. Thus, in the time interval 7:00-23:00, from Monday to Friday, the rates for parking in Bucharest are as follows:

  • 10 lei/hour, in Zone 0;
  • 5 lei/hour in Zone 1;
  • 2.5 lei/hour in Zone 2.

In order to issue the subscription, residents (natural persons who own cars and live on the street where the public parking lot is located) must present their identity card and the vehicle’s registration certificate. In order to be able to grant this type of subscription, the address in the registration certificate must be the same as in the bulletin.

River residents can benefit from subscriptions, with or without a reservation.

Without reservation (payment of the rate allows the use of a parking space without reservation or nomination):

  • 200 lei/month in Zone 0;
  • 100 lei/month in Zone 1;
  • 80 lei/month in Zone 2.

With reservation (payment of the tariff allows the use of a parking space, with its reservation, between 0.00-24.00):

  • 900 lei/month in Zone 0;
  • 700 lei/month in Zone 1;
  • 400 lei/month in Zone 2.

At the same time, natural persons can choose subscriptions for a day, a week, a month, a semester or a year for each of the zones 0, 1 or 2 of the Capital. E.g:

  • for Zone 0: 75 lei/day, 300 lei/week, 1,050 lei/month;
  • for Zone 1: 38 lei/day, 150 lei/week, 525 lei/month;
  • for Zone 2: 15 lei/day, 60 lei/week, 210 lei/month.

Legal entities, in turn, have the possibility to opt for subscriptions of one day, one week, one month, one semester or one year, and the rates are approximately 33% higher than in the case of individuals.

Drivers can pay for parking through the “Parking Bucharest” application

“Civilized behavior in municipal parking lots protects you from penalties. Please park regularly and pay the public parking service in advance. From August 15, non-compliance with these rules carries the risk of a 200 lei/day penalty and immobilization of the vehicle until the payment obligation is settled. Be responsible! Park legally and avoid being fined”. This is the message sent by the Bucharest Municipal Parking Company on the official website.

According to the same source, cited by Agerpres, the value of the parking space can also be paid through the “Parking Bucharest” application. It can be downloaded for free from AppStore or Google Play.

“Through the Parking Bucuresti App, you can pay the parking fee in advance, online, using your bank card or by SMS to the number 7458. However, the alternative of cash payment remains valid in all parking lots managed by Compania Municipală Parking Bucuresti SA”, more says the company. The application is also useful in finding in the shortest time the parking lots near the chosen destination and free parking spaces.
