Barrier gestures: the French have completely relaxed

With the arrival of the vaccine, the French are less and less attentive to barrier gestures. To the point of being the last in Europe in this area, underlines a survey carried out on the occasion of Handwashing Day.

Would we suddenly be less afraid of the virus? This is what the results ofan Ifop poll for XLoveCam : the French would be very poor students in terms of barrier gestures, and would have relaxed significantly compared to last year.

5,039 people aged at least 18, from Italy, Germany, Spain, France and the United Kingdom were questioned about their habits in terms of hand washing and barrier gestures. A first survey of this type was carried out at the end of the first confinement, and the analysis is final: we are slacking off! That said, the study points out that women tend to be more attentive to these gestures, compared to men.

We wash our hands a little and kiss each other

For example, in 2020 we were 81% to wash their hands systematically before eating. Today ? Only 58%. When the French return home, not everyone cleans their hands … far from it! They are only 55% to do so. In 2020, 86% answered yes to this question. Sneezing in your elbow to protect neighbors has also lost popularity: only 53% of inhabitants of France have kept this practice.

In privacy, hygiene is not really respected by the French, who turn out to be the worst students questioned in this survey. After going to the toilet, 81% of Europeans say they wash their hands (on average), against 76% in France.

Socially, old habits are back! We thought we would never dare to kiss again, only 39% of French people kept the habit after the first confinement. But finally, the practice (practiced by 91% of people questioned before the crisis) is gradually coming back into fashion: 65% kiss each other again when they meet.
