In order to contribute to saving measures through responsible resource management in the current conditions of global energy uncertainty, Banca Intesa, part of the international banking group Intesa Sanpaolo, adopted an action plan to optimize the consumption of electricity and gas in its business premises. “Improving the resource management model is part of Banca Intesa’s broader efforts to influence the long-term reduction of indirect impacts on the environment through the financing of green and sustainable initiatives, as well as its direct impacts through minimizing its own ecological footprint. As one of the pioneers of sustainability in the Serbian market, we want to contribute to overcoming the demanding period ahead of us in this way, following the recommendations of the Government of the Republic of Serbia. especially in the context of current environmental and social challenges”, said Darko Popović, president of the Executive Board of Banca Intesa.

The planned measures in the Banca Intesa business network, which has 147 branches in 88 cities throughout Serbia, include a changed mode of operation of decorative lighting and illuminated advertisements, which will not be switched on during the day, nor in the evening and night hours, while the lighting in the branches will be switched on. only during working hours. In addition, Banca Intesa will also optimize the method of temperature regulation in the branches so that the heating devices will be turned on and adjusted to the optimal temperature only during working hours and when employees and clients are in the premises.

Rationalization measures will also be applied in the Banca Intesa head office buildings, where the heating system will be activated before the start of working hours and turned off at the end of working hours. In addition, in order to reduce unnecessary consumption of electricity, work lighting in offices and building corridors will be turned off after working hours, while part of the lights and ceiling lighting will be permanently turned off. The bank’s commercial decorative lighting and illuminated advertisements will be switched off during the day and in the evening and night hours, and the New Year’s illuminated decoration will not be placed either on the head office buildings or in the bank’s branches.

Respecting ESG principles in all business segments, Banca Intesa strives to achieve a positive impact on the social environment and the environment through the constant expansion of the portfolio of products and services it makes available to citizens and the economy. With the support of its parent group Intesa Sanpaolo, this year the bank placed 28 million euros in loans for circular economy projects under favorable conditions, as well as an additional 25 million euros for the improvement of energy efficiency, environmental protection and support for female entrepreneurs.
