Bangladesh series win – Dainik Azadi

Bangladesh won the series on Sunday (May 14) after defeating Ireland by 4 runs in the final of the three-match ODI series in Chelmsford, England.

Batting at the start, the visitors were all out for 274 runs. In response, Ireland could not score more than 270 runs after losing 9 wickets. After the first match was washed away by rain, Bangladesh won the second match. Tamim Iqbal’s team took the series by winning the last match.

Bangladesh went down without any changes in the previous match. There were three changes in the last match, the debuts of Mritunjoy Chowdhury and Roni Talukder; Pacer Mostafizur Rahman also returned to the XI. In T20, Ronnie used the power play to open the innings, but could not do much in his first match in ODI.

Losing the toss, Ronnie went down to bat and scored only 4 runs off 14 balls. Then Nazmul Hossain Shanto became the partner of captain Tamim Iqbal. This batsman, who scored a great century in the previous match, scored 35 runs off 32 balls and was caught at slip by Craig Young.

However, Ireland lost wickets early in the run chase. Stephen Dohani, the team’s opening batsman, returned to Sajghar after scoring 4 runs from Mostafizur Rahman’s ball in the hands of Liton. After that, captain Balburni made a partnership of 99 runs with Paul Sterling.

Ireland took control of the match in their pair. Ebadat Hossain brought some relief to the Bangladesh camp by returning Balburni who scored 53 runs off 78 balls with 6 fours. Mehdi Hasan Miraj took the wicket of Sterling who scored 60 runs off 73 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes.

After their departure, Harry Tector and Lorcan Tucker tried to knock Bangladesh out of the match. Captain Tamim Iqbal brought Shanto to bowl in the 42nd over when there was no wicket. Tector went to pick him up on the fifth ball of his over, Lytton jumped and took a great catch. Shanta gets the first wicket of his international career.

Then Mustafiz increased the pressure by dismissing Curtis Kampfer who scored 1 run from 4 balls. He dismissed George Dockrell in the 45th over. Tucker was still at the crease with a half-century, this batsman was also the biggest threat for Bangladesh.

Coming to his next over, Mustafiz bowled Tucker who scored 53 runs in 53 balls with 4 fours and 1 six. This pacer, who did not get a place in the eleven in the previous two matches, bowled 10 overs and took 4 wickets with 44 runs including 1 maiden. Even after his bowling, there was a possibility of losing the match.

Ireland needed 24 runs in the last two overs. But in the 49th over, Mritunjoy Chowdhury bowled and scored 14 runs. On his debut, he was very good throughout the match, giving 64 runs in 8 overs.

Hasan Mahmud came in the last over after his poor bowling. He bowled brilliantly. He took two wickets and gave only 5 runs. Bangladesh to win the match. Mostafiz was Man of the Match and Shanta was awarded Man of the Series.
