Guadalajara – The Spanish Paula Badosa scored her second victory at the Champions Tennis Tournament today, defeating the Greek Maria Sakkari 7: 6 and 6: 4. Although she has not lost a hundred in Guadalajara, progress to the semifinals is still uncertain. It will depend on the outcome of the night duel between Belarusian Aryna Sabalenkova and Polish Iga Šwiateková.

Twenty-three-year-old Badosa, who won the big tournament in Indian Wells in October, bounced back to 5: 2 in the first set thanks to a break from the sixth game. But she didn’t deliver the set and decided on a tie-break. She had the upper hand in it again and won it 7: 4. Also in the second set, Sakkari lost service first. The Greek tennis player lost 2: 4 and managed to return to the set again. But then she lost the service again, and Badosa served the battle for more than two hours.

After winning over Sabalenkova, she also scored Sakkar’s scalp. The victory of Sabalenková or the victory of Šwiateková in three sets will give her the certainty of advancing to the semifinals.

Now the Czech tennis players will be in action again at the Champions Tournament. Barbora Krejčíková and Kateřina Siniaková will attack the second win in doubles.
