The Israeli House and the Azerbaijan Tourist Board announced that they won a grant from the project for the development of WalkEUR Jewish heritage routes, which follow the Jewish routes in Europe. The grant is intended for the development of a Jewish heritage route in the Caucasus region.

The WalkEUR project in which other cultural routes in the European Union countries participate (which is also a partner in the project) launched a call for grants three months ago, in search of innovative and transnational projects to strengthen the strategic development of the European routes that preserve and reflect the Jewish heritage.

The Israeli House and the Tourism Council of Azerbaijan explained the receipt of the grant: “This means an extraordinary cooperation between Georgia and Azerbaijan for the promotion of Jewish heritage, with the union of two national paths of a very unique Jewish heritage, unique that is still unknown to the traveling public.”

Although there are crucial cultural differences, including language, customs and culture, the development of this track will allow the advancement of research on the history of the Jewish communities of the two countries, their exchanges and their effects. It is about creating an infrastructure that will allow locals and visitors to explore and discover in depth the rich Jewish heritage of these two countries.

The implementation of the project will take about four months, during which two will conduct trips for technical teams, training workshops, a think tank. Updates will be made from time to time.
