Autumn or spring FERTILIZATION? – Here is a good tip for a high yield of sunflowers!

While some producers don’t even pay attention to it, an experienced farmer shared with us the key thing: how to make sunflower yields higher, and it’s about the time of fertilization.

“Most adequate fertilization for sunflowerst i – jautumn fertilization. Pre-flight fertilization, in my opinion, with an amount of 60 kg of nitrogen in the wrap. There was a lot of rain, which is not good for the sunflower. It gives better results when it is a dry year, when there is a deficit of precipitation. There are x factors that affect all that, but I am a supporter of sowing sunflowers before sowing corn and finishing the weeding, in the wheat harvest to finish everything and start the ripening process, because then it will provide the best results”, he reveals to us. Janko Turčan, farmer from Stara Pazova.

Janko Turčan is one of the farmers who regularly works soil analysis, which is very important for the selection of fertilizers that will be used later on the plot.

As Janko states, he owns 95% of the plots land analysis done through the Advisory Service in Sremska Mitrovica and strictly adheres to the recommendations.

When we talk about important agrotechnical measures, we asked Janko if they are more important for him plant protection or their nutrition and soil quality.

When there is an optimal amount of precipitation, as this year has shown, Janko says that it has influenced the development of the crops that were sown. In that year, he also gave birth to the one who did not use fertilizer. But when the year comes when there is not enough quantity precipitation, there it comes to the advantage of those who fertilize the fields every year.

“Aside from, protection is a tight coupling with fertilization. In my opinion, it’s identical: as much as you should take care of fertilizing, you should also take care of protection,” concludes our interlocutor.
