Turkey cars and light commercial vehicles market, this year’s January-June period was 30.2 percent compared to the same period of 2019, in June last year grew by 66.3 percent when compared to June this year.
Automotive Distributors Association (ODD), according to a statement, car and light commercial vehicle sales in Turkey, compared to the same period last year, the first six months of this year increased by 30.2 percent amounted to 68 254 thousand units.
Considering only automobile sales, the market increased by 30.2 percent in the first half of the year compared to the same period of the previous year and was recorded at the level of 203 thousand 595. The light commercial vehicle market also increased by 30.2 percent to 50 thousand 473 units.
LIGHT COMMERCIAL VEHICLE MARKET HAS GROWED 108.7 PERCENT IN JUNE
Considering only June, the passenger car and light commercial vehicle market in June 2020 increased by 66.3 percent compared to June 2019 and was determined as 70 thousand 973 units.
In this period, passenger car sales increased by 58.4 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, while the light commercial vehicle market increased by 108.7 percent to 13,906 units.
MARKET INCREASED 1.0 PERCENT COMPARED TO 10 YEAR JUNE AVERAGE SALES
On the other hand, the passenger car and light commercial vehicle market increased 1.0 percent compared to the average 10-year June sales.
The automobile market increased by 6.2 percent in June compared to the average sales for 10 years. The light commercial vehicle market, on the other hand, decreased by 15.9 percent compared to the average sales of 10 years in June.
PETROL AUTOMOBILE SALES PROTECTED ITS FIRST PLACE
According to the automobile market engine volume, automobile sales below 1600cc increased by 31.7 percent to 95.1 percent, and automobile sales in the 1600-2000cc range decreased by 6.9 percent to 1.8 percent.
The share of automobile sales over 2000cc decreased by 18.2 percent to 0.2 percent.
By the end of June 2020, according to the automobile market engine type, gasoline automobile sales received 50.1 percent share with 101 thousand 998 units, while diesel automobile sales received 42.6 percent share with 86 thousand 684 units.
While the share of autogas car sales was 4.4 percent with 9,36 units, 173 electric and 5,704 hybrid cars were sold.
SEDAN DOES NOT LEAVE THE SUMMIT
At the end of June, according to the automobile market segments, 85.7 percent of the market was composed of vehicles in segments A, B and C with low tax rates.
C segment cars received a 60.6 percent share with 123,384 units, while segment B cars received 24.7 percent with 50,271 units.
According to the body types of the car market, the most preferred body type was sedan cars with a share of 44.1 percent. Sedan cars followed by SUVs with 27.6 percent and a hatchback with 25.2 percent.
FIRST CHOICE IN COMMERCE
According to the light commercial vehicle market body type, the van body type was the most preferred body type with a 75.5 percent share, while the van body type was the second with 11.6 percent share. These were pick-up with 6.8 percent and a minibus with 6.2 percent.
