Auto driver dies in Nabinagar storm

Desk Report:: Ali Ahmed (32), a CNG-driven autorickshaw driver, died after a tree fell in Brahmanbaria’s Nabinagar.

The accident happened on Tuesday (23 May) around 11 o’clock at Konaghat intersection of Nabinagar Municipal area.

The deceased Ali Ahmed is the son of deceased Ali Akbar of Thollakandi village of Barikandi union of upazila.

According to local sources, on Tuesday morning, Ali Ahmed was coming from Thollakandi of the upazila to Nabinagar with a passenger. On the way, when the storm started, he took shelter under a jum tree at Konaghat junction. At one point in a heavy storm, the jamacha tree uprooted and fell on the autorickshaw. The driver Ali Ahmed died on the spot. Four passengers in the autorickshaw were injured in the incident. The injured were taken to Nabinagar Upazila Health Complex and the doctor on duty referred them to Comilla Hospital.

Nabinagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saifuddin Anwar said that a CNG-powered autorickshaw driver named Ali Ahmed died after a tree fell in the heavy storm. Police have been dispatched to the scene.
