From Friday, January 15, people coming to Austria will be required to register online. However, even in this case, they made a few exceptions.

The Austrian Ministry of Health ordered mandatory online registration for people coming to the country on Tuesday, effective from Friday. The APA agency informed about it.
The obligation to register will in principle apply to all persons entering Austria. Exceptions will apply to regular commuters, persons who only pass through Austria or those who travel for necessary and urgent family reasons, such as funerals.
Document with QR code
People arriving in Austria will need to fill in their name, date of birth, e-mail address, place of residence and stay, date of arrival, approximate date of departure, and the countries where they have stayed in the last ten days on the online form.
If the address where the individual undergoes the 10-day quarantine differs from his usual place of residence, this must also be reported. Isolation can be terminated prematurely after a negative test result, which can be performed no earlier than the fifth day after arrival in the country.
After the online registration, a PDF document with a QR code and filled in data will be generated for download, which will also reach people at the given e-mail address.
It must be submitted in printed or digital form.
Persons who do not have the appropriate electronic options can also print this form and then fill it out. In case of emergency, the form will also be available at the border, a ministry spokeswoman specified. However, to avoid long waiting times, people are advised to register online.
Quarantine control
Personal data will be automatically provided by the district office in the person’s place of residence. The aim of electronic registration is to enable authorities to better control quarantine and to simplify the tracing of infected contacts. The relevant online form should probably be available from Wednesday, as the spokeswoman told the APA. The data will be kept for 28 days from the date of arrival in the country and will be deleted from the system after this time.
Mandatory quarantine when entering Austria does not currently apply to travelers from Australia, Finland, Greece, Iceland, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore and the Vatican.
