Significance of Nirjala Ekadashi
Ekadashi fasting is dedicated to the worship of Lord Vishnu. All the 24 Ekadashis falling in a year are known by different names. Similarly, Jyestha Shukla Paksha Ekadashi is known as Nirjala Ekadashi. It is believed that the blessings of Lord Vishnu remain on those who observe Ekadashi fast. All the four purusharths, Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha are attained by this.
According to Acharya Pradeep Pandey of Prayagraj, the Nirjala Ekadashi fast is considered the most difficult of all the 24 Ekadashi fasts observed in a year. Because this fast falls in the scorching heat and in this fast one has to sacrifice water along with food.
