Aura – the concept of the British electric roadster

The Aura is a project of the British government’s office for zero-emission vehicles, and it is a sports electric two-seater of the future, in the tradition of small British sports cars.

The aura is an expression of support for the transition of the automotive industry from an electric SUS engine, but it is unlikely that it will ever enter production. The concept is the work of four British suppliers who have teamed up through an independent network of small series vehicle manufacturers.

The concept has a simple, aerodynamic bodywork that is the work of the Astheimer Design studio. The surfaces are minimalist, and this design contributes to the declared autonomy of 640 km.

Body panels are made of environmentally friendly materials, natural composites and canvas and are much lighter than metal equivalents. The materials were developed by BAMD Composites.

Potenza Engineering has created a battery and software that controls its charging and performance. The package consists of two batteries of 44kWh each. One is located in the nose of the car, and the other under the floor. The drive is on the rear wheels, but no performance data has been released.

The multimedia system was made by the digital technology company Conjure and this is the first British car to use Android as an operating system. A screen that provides key data is housed on the steering wheel, and there’s an additional 10-inch screen on the center console. Aura is able to calculate the most suitable route for charging the battery while driving and along the way gives advice to the driver on how to maximize the range and reduce energy consumption.
