Successor to Mindt
Now that Andreas Mindt is leaving Audi as chief responsible for exterior design, a successor is of course needed. That will be Philipp Römers. No stranger to Audi.
This week it was announced that Andreas Mindt, who has been leading Audi’s exterior design department for years, is moving to Bentley. There he becomes the main responsible for all design departments. Obviously, that’s why Audi has to take over its place and according to Automobile week the choice fell on Philipp Römers. The 41-year-old German has been working for Audi since 2014, after previous work for Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz.
As an exterior designer, Römers was one of the pioneers of the current A6, A8 and the yet to be revealed E-tron GT. Now he will no longer work on specific body designs with his own design department, but will take overall charge of the different departments. It is one of the highest design functions within Audi. Marc Licht is still the head of everything that has to do with design at the brand. Römers will in turn have to answer to him.
