It concept Q4 Sportback e-tron is revealed: a compact size SUV coupe with muscular design and clean lines that run through the bodywork. The serial version is expected in the 2021, this is Audi’s second fully electric SUV coupe.
The e-tron range is one of the manufacturer’s most ambitious projects Ingolstad: electrification required significant investments and new industrial planning. SUVs (compact, above all) maintain the primacy among the preferences of motorists, it is logical to choose these cars to meet the tastes of customers by bringing them closer to new technology.
So similar so different
Like the Q4 e-tron, the Sportback version is also based on the platform MONE of the Volkswagen group. An architecture developed and built exclusively for electric vehicles. The proximity between the models also concerns the technical data sheet: the top of the range versions of both use two electric motors for a total power of 306 Cv distributed by all-wheel drive.
The bodywork configuration of Q4 Sportback e-tron gives great dynamism, deceiving the proportions: both cars measure 4.6 meters, yet the coupé momentum returns more generous dimensions. Stylish element at the rear, where an LED light strip joins the optical groups in a successful and convincing scenographic effect (as on the e-tron Sportback).
From the first glance you can see the single frame front grill with logo Audi: distinctive feature of each car of the brand, here with a partially closed surface inside the wide octagonal frame that acts as a grille. Great care has been taken with life on board.
Habitability is very good considering the pace of 2.77 meters; behind the wheel, Audi Virtual cockpit, useful for communicating speed, navigation and charge status information to the motorist. Among the new introductions, the latest generation head-up display with augmented reality function: which allows you to superimpose other information such as directional arrows for the turn on the road.
The infotelematics system is based on a screen from 12.3 inches oriented towards the driver. Below, a series of controls allows control of the air conditioning.
82 kWh battery for 450 km of autonomy
The battery, inserted in the car floor, is from 82 kWh and allows an autonomy of 450 km approved in the WLTP cycle. The car supports charging a 125 kW which allows you to restore the80% in just over half an hour through the columns for quick charging.
Q4 Sportback e-tron will be available in different arrangements. The most exclusive Performance uses two electric motors (one for each axle) allowing for all-wheel drive. The absence of moving mechanical parts offers electronics the ideal conditions for optimally distributing the torque, ensuring maximum grip and safety in all circumstances.
When not needed, Q4 it mainly uses the rear motor (synchronous with permanent magnets) obtaining maximum efficiency. The power supplied by the latter is 204 Cv per 310 Nm of maximum torque. The front engine stops at 102 HP and 105 Nm of maximum torque. The system power is 306 HP.
Q4 Sportback e-tron is part of the electrification project of the Audi range. The offensive includes twenty zero emission models by 2025, which will generate 40% of the turnover. An ambitious and challenging plan that also passes through the new compact SUV coupe.
