Attorney General’s Office Calls Corruption in the BTS Project Not an Ordinary Criminal Incident: Rp. 8 Trillion in State Losses!

Suara.com – Director of Investigation at the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Dirdik Jampidsus) Kuntadi said the corruption case in the 4G Base Transceiver Station (BTS) infrastructure provision project and supporting infrastructure for packages 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 of BAKTI Kominfo Year 2020 was not an ordinary criminal incident.

Because, he added, the value of state financial losses due to these crimes reached more than IDR 8 trillion.

“One point that we must look at together in this case, we remember that in this incident there were funds that were rolled out for a project worth 10 trillion and so on, the state lost 8 trillion and so. So maybe we need to look at this together that this is not an ordinary criminal incident,” he said Kuntadi at the RI Attorney General’s Office Jampidsus Round Building, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, Wednesday (17/5/2023).

According to Kuntadi, the current Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of Indonesia does not only focus on the prosecution process. However, it also focuses on recovering state financial losses.

“Of course we carried out asset tracing activities long before today. We have already done that and we have confiscated some and we have conveyed that, all of it is still rolling,” he said.

No Political Elements
Meanwhile, the Head of the Center for Legal Information (Kapuspenkum) at the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of Indonesia Ketut Sumedana emphasized that there was no political element behind the determination of the suspect and the detention of the Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Johnny G Plate regarding this case.

He claimed that the determination of suspects and detention was purely carried out as an effort to enforce the law.

“The determination of the suspect and the detention of JGP (Johnny G Plate) are purely law enforcement and there is no political element in it,” said Ketut.

Ketut explained that the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of Indonesia has an obligation to oversee national strategic projects for the benefit of society. Moreover, the value of state financial losses due to corruption reached more than IDR 8 trillion.

“The project for providing 4G Base Transceiver Station (BTS) infrastructure and supporting infrastructure for packages 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 is a national strategic project, and therefore it will continue so that the interests of the people who live in frontier, outermost and disadvantaged areas (3T) ) can receive 4G networks,” he explained.

As is well known, Jhonny was named a suspect after being questioned three times. The examination was carried out on 14 February 2023, 15 March 2023 and 17 May 2023 this morning.

In this case Jhonny was charged with Article 2 Paragraph (1) and Article 3 Juncto Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended and supplemented by RI Law Number 20 of 2001 Juncto Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Amendments to the Law Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Corruption jo. Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st Criminal Code.

The Secretary General of the NasDem Party was subsequently detained at the Salemba Detention Center, the Republic of Indonesia’s Attorney General’s Office.
