Desk Report :: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department has recovered 60 gold bars from a passenger catering service vehicle at Shahjalal International Airport. Seven people have been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the incident.
The gold bars were recovered from the leftover box of a vehicle supplying food to US Bengal passengers at 8am on Tuesday.

Members of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department said that US Bengal flight BS 342 from Dubai landed at Shahjalal International Airport at 8 am on Tuesday. After removing the leftover food boxes from the passengers, 70 gold bars were recovered from the boxes.

They said the market value of the 60 gold bars recovered was between four and five crore rupees. Seven people arrested in the incident are being questioned.

Meanwhile, Niazur Rahman Khan, Additional Director General of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department, said the operation was carried out on the basis of secret information. Employees of US Bengal Catering Service seem to be involved in this incident.

Monirul Islam, an assistant revenue officer involved in the operation, said the US-Bengal aircraft may have been seized.
