Plus GeForce RTX 3080 Ti brings nothing new at the level of silicon or equipment, except for one thing: the limiters of the extraction of some cryptocurrencies. I’ll pause a little over this one. Personally, I think that Nvidia introduced these cards only because of the application of the mining limiter, so the RTX 3080 Ti and 3070 Ti is not much more powerful than the RTX 3080 and RTX 3070. That was not the purpose. Those few percent are not worth talking about. But you won’t get the original RTX 3080 and 3070, the new ones a little better.
But what did Nvidia actually limit. First of all, the ETH (Ethereum) and ETC (Ethereum Classic) algorithms. Here, the mining output is 30% lower. With higher card consumption, efficiency goes considerably lower. After all, this is not such a brutal reduction that it discourages many buyers. He just buys more cards. There were also restrictions on other algorithms, but for some the performance increased. Such an Octopus runs better on the RTX 3080 Ti thanks to higher TDP and faster GDDRX6 memory. Apparently she didn’t want to restrict Nvidia much, as it would look different. But it may also be preventing possible lawsuits, if a limiter card came on the market as the RTX 3080, the US court should be torn down. It’s still threatening.
The specifications of the GA102 full core are undoubtedly interesting. The full configuration has 10752 CUDA cores in 84 SM clusters. RTX 3090 has active 10496 CUDA cores, RTX 3080 Ti only 10240. The novelty has active 80 SM clusters. As a result, it has fewer core tensors and texturing units. But the difference is very small compared to RTX 3090. The memory bus is the same, the capacity of the RTX 3080 Ti is half. But 12 GB is enough memory.

The water-cooled Asus card can easily handle beats over 1900 MHz. The difference is around 10 percent. So it’s clear that if a regular reference ended up just a few percent below RTX 3090, this card will beat it. Maybe by less than 10 percent. But the tests will show us.
I will not deal with computing power in applications, in them, thanks to the larger memory of the RTX 3090, there is still a clear choice. There will be ten games and they will be demanding and modern titles. I will only test 4K resolution (3840 × 2160), others don’t make sense. We measure the consumption of a water-cooled card in two modes (the card has two BIOSes). Also of course temperatures and OC.
