Prague – The shops will voluntarily comply with all security rules, even if the state of emergency ends and the government does not take any other measures. This was stated today by the Confederation of Trade and Tourism of the Czech Republic (SOCR). However, he expects to stop complying with some nonsensical bans, according to him, when, for example, it is allowed to sell only a certain range. The president of the union, Tomáš Prouza, told ČTK today.
On Thursday, the Chamber of Deputies did not approve the government’s request for a further extension of the state of emergency. According to the Minister of Health Jan Blatný (for YES), shops or services will be able to open. The state of emergency is valid from October 5, it should end on Sunday.
According to Prouza, stores have always been a safe place for customers and employees and have never been a source of infection. “We will do everything to keep it valid,” he said. “At the same time, however, nonsensical bans will end, where traders may not sell toys for children, but may offer toys for dogs, or according to which they should have closed winter clothing stores, but may have arms stores open,” Prouza added.
The government has banned retail sales in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. Exceptions are grocery stores, pharmacies, drugstores, florists, opticians, haberdashery and stationery. Only basic goods can be offered in stores. For example, people do not buy underwear, adult shoes or electronics in stone shops.
In stores, there is a limit of 15 square meters of operating space per customer, at checkouts or counters there are signs to keep the distance of two meters. Customers should disinfect their hands when entering the store, ideally only one household member should go shopping.
