The press service of the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Victoria Abramchenko said that the issue of providing assistance to the families of the sailors of the ship “Onega” sunk in the Barents Sea is under the special control of the government. In addition, the regional authorities provide not only material, but also psychological assistance. Together with them, the Social Insurance Fund (FSS) and the owner of the sunken ship – the fishing collective farm named after MI Kalinin – work.
In parallel with this, the authorities are trying to establish all the circumstances of the tragedy that happened at the end of 2020. According to preliminary data, the shipwreck occurred due to the fact that the vessel was subjected to severe icing. At the same time, the ship was ready for difficult weather conditions.
At the moment, 25 family members of the deceased sailors have received a total of 12.4 million rubles. Another 11 family members continue to collect documents that are needed for payments.
