From November 22, 2022, viewers can enjoy the ARD audio library on their smart TV and thus on the big screen. Podcasts and radio live streams from more than 60 public radio stations, which were previously available via the corresponding app and a web version were also available on the “big screen” of the television.

The varied offers of the ARD Audiothek can be selected via the HbbTV homepage. The clearly and clearly designed HbbTV version of the audio library now also offers a large selection of audio contributions on Smart TV: radio plays, thrillers, podcasts, comedy, documentaries, reports and knowledge formats. The podcasts are sorted by categories or stations, but they can also be found using the so-called “discovery mode”.

The live streams of the radio programs are enriched with visual radio elements when selected via HbbTV and thus offer users further information. Subscriptions, watch lists and playlists can also be used via the ARD login.

More service with ARD login

As usual from the ARD media library, viewers can also call up the audio library using the red button on their remote control in the HbbTV start bar. The audio library via HbbTV is available in the program of Das Erste and in all third programs of the ARD as well as via ARD alpha, One, Tagesschau24 and all radio stations that are available via HbbTV.

The HbbTV version of the audio library was created in a joint project by ARD Online, the ARD Play Out Center and the Technical Innovation Management of the RBB – in connection with the ARD Competence Center HbbTV/Platforms under the direction of the HA Distribution of the RBB.
