Arai presented a special edition dedicated to Niki Hayden

Arai has launched a special edition of his Corsair-X helmet, dedicated to the birthday of the tragically injured MotoGP champion, Niki Hayden.

The Kentucky Kid would turn 40 on July 30, and to mark that date, Arai brings a helmet with a redesign of the graphics that the American wore during the test in Valencia, in 2013.

The helmet bears the name Nicky Reset and is a kind of Hayden’s move from the Ducati team factory to Aspar, in 2014, which coincided with the introduction of the CRT asia.

According to the company, the name itself symbolically represents a new beginning that the rich career of this driver had at that time.

After Niki’s departure, we decided we wanted to preserve the memory of him and his racing legacy. One of the best ways to do this is with replica helmets he wore. Over the years, Niki has worn dozens of design solutions often chosen by his fans. In that way, they showed their loyalty and travel towards him, the Hayden family said in a statement.

It is because of these fans that we decided to work with Arai. Were it not for the excellent feedback on the announcement of this graphic, we would not have continued to work. The fans are still looking for Niki’s graphics and we had to respond to them this way.

The reset was a unique design that Hayden wore during off-season testing. It was said at the time that a replica was planned, but that never materialized.

In this way, the Hayden and Arai families pay homage to Niki and leave a memory of him alive.

we want to thank everyone who followed this design. Niki still lives through you, the statement said.

Hayden lost his life in 2017, after an accident while riding a bicycle in Italy.
