April Poll # 4: What old variety do you grow in your orchard?

The preservation of old varieties of fruits and vegetables has been intensively worked on throughout Serbia for years. These varieties also received significant attention during the previous year, because due to the epidemic, there was a greater interest in growing varieties with authentic smell and taste.

So far, 70 varieties of apples, 20 varieties of pears and 11 varieties of plums have been listed in the Mionica region alone.

Due to the great interest in this topic, we asked regular visitors to our site:

What old variety do you grow in the orchard?

There were 39 responses to this survey.

Among the offered solutions, the most popular at the moment is the Požegača plum, which collected a fifth of the total number of votes.

In second place is the Petrovac apple with a total of 7 votes.

They shared third place red ranka plum and karamanka pear, since 6 participants in the survey decided on these varieties.

Slightly less votes were collected by apple cakes, Vranje quince and watercress pear.

In the last place is the Leskovac quince with one won vote.
