These RC versions are called like this because they are the ‘Release Candidate’ or final version candidate. These versions are versions of operating systems that incorporate all the new features of the betas in order to prepare for the official launch. In this case, Apple has released the final candidate versions of iOS 15, iPadOS 15, tvOS 15, HomePod 15 and watchOS 8. These operating systems will see the light in the coming days.

Apple is likely to release the RC versions in the coming days for users who are enrolled in the official public beta program. This is done to try and debug any last minute issues that developers may report in final operating system testing.
