Quite unexpectedly, Apple today announced that it will allow users to repair their products themselves through the Self Service Repair program.
Thanks to this, they will have access to technical documentation, repair manuals and original parts, which can be ordered independently in a special online store that Apple intends to open soon. Initially, there will be about 200 parts and tools that will allow you to repair the equipment.
The first devices that can be repaired by themselves will be the 12 and 13 series iPhones. Any interested person will be able to replace, for example, the screen, battery or camera module. Mac computers with proprietary processors will also be added later.
The program will start operating in early 2022 and will first be available in the United States. In the coming months, Apple plans to introduce it to other countries.
The exact rules of this initiative and sample component costs are not known yet.
