Engineer B, who was preparing to move to an overseas company in April of last year, was caught storing hundreds of photos of important data containing national core technologies on the screen while working from home. Mr. B was later confirmed guilty of the crime and handed over to trial while in custody.

Mr. B was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison, 2 years of probation, and a fine of 10 million won in the first trial, and the second trial is scheduled to proceed in the future.

Mr. C, who was preparing to move to a domestic partner company, was also caught keeping photos of key semiconductor technologies.

Even at that time, Samsung Electronics fired Mr. C and requested a government agency to investigate. Mr. C was sentenced to prison last month by the court. The prosecution has also appealed against this case.

Samsung Electronics has issued a ban on the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) ChatGPT in-house and by employees due to concerns about a series of technology leaks. This is because if you enter company internal information into ChatGPT, it is highly likely that it will be used as learning data and leaked to an unspecified number of people.

Additional supplementary measures to block the upload of work-related information and strengthen security are also being reviewed.
