Let us remind you, some clubs in Nis openly rebelled when it was decided that in 2022 they will receive twice less money compared to what they received last year.

Mayor Dragana Sotirovski explains that additional funds for Nis sports will come thanks to the fact that she talked to President Aleksandar Vučić last weekend, who ordered the Government to make a special transfer of money for athletes in Niš.

– This news made us all happy and we couldn’t have finished the year better. The local self-government was aware that it could not increase the budget, we did not want to spend what we did not have, so we did not promise anything. Now the situation is better, but I recommend clubs to unite, because they have several teams from each sport, which increases costs. We are also about to make a plan with the management of the clubs, in order to motivate as many young people as possible to play sports, and the teams will have to spend the money on purpose, ie regularly pay rent for the use of city sports infrastructure – said the mayor. two minibuses that will be available to athletes to go to competitions.

She also appealed to clubs to reduce or even abolish membership fees that parents pay for their children to play sports.

Appeal to water polo legends

SELECTOR of golden water polo players Dejan Savić recently, during the awarding of sports recognitions, also appealed not to deprive Nis clubs of funds, and reminded that the celebrated national team member Sava Randjelović is from Niš, who is “the backbone of both Serbian club and national water polo team”.
